Mashal Yatra and Setting Up the Holy Torch At Parva Manch:Kalahandi’s Cultural Fiesta Kicks Off

Kalahandi’s cultural extravaganza “Kalahandi Utsav-Ghumura 2026” kicked off this morning with the customary Mashal Yatra or Torch Rally, led by Sj Bhawani Nial, the Chairperson of the Mashal Committee.As is the prevalent practice, mashals are led from major shrines in and around Kalahandi.These holy Mashals, on reaching Bhawanipatna, are given a warm welcome and are routed to Gandhi Chowk for a temporary Mashal Shelter.Then, the crucial Mashal of Maa Manikeshwari is guided out of the Manikeswari Temple after much ritualistic deliberation and in presence of Maharaj Udit Pratap Deo.This Mashal, joined by the earlier Mashals, is escorted out in a grand procession, attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, to the Parba Manch and Sahid Rendo Majhi Manch at Lal Bahadur Stadium.High-prifile personalities as Sri Sachin Power, District Collector;Sri Bishnu Pradhan, Chairman, NAC;Sri Vivekananda Mahananda, District Culture Officer;and Haldhar Nial, DPRO, walked this grand procession
